The Artist in the Environment
André Chi-Sing Yuen puts philosophical, social, religious and political manifestos into his artistic concept. Boundaries of image surfaces and speech bodies he entangles fluently with the technology of new media. From the interactions of word and image arises his independent aesthetic. Digitus, the finger, digital-electronic art, counted with the fingers, literally describes the artistic technique of André Chi Sing Yuen. With his art, he reflects a world situation that reveals the global networking and dependencies of all states. There are limitless possibilities of human existence. The world seems to be rearranging itself. Microchips, interfaces and computers are still mostly outside the human body, nor is the networking of the world population external. However, the path from the flesh to the technical and back again to the flesh/spiritual has long been taken. Here stands the artist Yuen with his view of the world. The digital montages by André Chi-Sing Yuen congenially transfer these current events to image bodies and projections.
